Many people put vision care at the top of their list and say that sight is their most important sense. But, a lot of people have never had an eye exam. If you’ve never had an exam, or it has been a long time, then we encourage you to contact us to have an eye examination arranged.
A typical eye exam
Quick and painless, routine eye exams ensure good, healthy vision. Before your exam, the optometrist will ask you about your health history and your family history, whether you've experienced any eye trouble, and ask you to describe your work and lifestyle. Then, he/she will test your eyes: checking for eye movement, peripheral vision and color blindness, administering a glaucoma test and determining the health of your optic nerve and retina.
At the end of the exam, a final diagnosis and determine the treatment plan, if needed. The diagnosis will include the status of your vision and any eye health problems. It will then be determined whether you need any type of corrective eyewear, like eyeglasses.

It is recommended to have annual contact lens checkups done, which we will perform at no charge, before ordering new supplies of contact lenses.

When it's time to choose an eyeglass frame, everyone wants a frame that looks great on them. By following a few key face shape rules, you can make sure you find the perfect frames for your face:
   •  The shape of the frame should contrast your face shape for maximum appeal. People with curved faces look best in angular frames and people with angular faces look best in curved frames.
   •  Choose eyewear that is in balance with your facial proportions. The frame size should be to scale with your face size and the top of the frame should follow your natural brow line. Eyes should appear centered in the frame.

Aside from the very important function of guarding your eyes from sun-related eye disease, sunglasses provide a variety of additional benefits, like comforting dry eyes, enhancing contrast and reducing tearing. When purchasing a pair of sunglasses, look for the following features:
•100 percent ultra-violet (UV) protection.
•Polarized lenses to filter reflected glare from shiny surfaces like water, pavement and dashboards.
•Wraparound frames to protect the sides of your eyes from UV rays, as well as keeping out dust and debris.
•Lens tints that can improve performance by enhancing contrast, colors and visibility.
There are also other options available to protect your eyes from the sun. Over-prescription sunglasses are designed to be worn over eyeglasses and sun-clips can be snapped on to a pair of glasses for UV protection. For those who want convenience, photochromic lenses, which darken as you move from the indoors to the outdoors, are the best bet.

If you are looking for your sunglasses to help enhance your performance, take note of the following lens tints:
•Brown/Amber/Copper: Reduces glare and improves contrast and visibility by selectively filtering blue light. Great for driving, golfing, water and snow sports.
•Gray/Green-Gray: General purpose tint reduces glare while maintaining natural colors.
•Yellow/Rose: Enhances contrast and definition, especially in lower light conditions.
Aside frm protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays, sunglasses can also make a fashion statement. Sunglasses are a great way to show your sense of style, and by creating a sunwear wardrobe you’ll be ready with a pair of frames for any occasion.
